BELGAUM:Anshika Shivnath Yadav (20), a dental student of the Maratha Mandal Dental College here, committed suicide by hanging herself at the ladies' hostel on Saturday night. She had failed in the annual examination held in June.
Anshika hails from Laxmi Nagar in New Delhi. Her father, Shivnath, is a personal assistant to Vayalar Ravi, Minister for civil aviation. Anshika was a student of first year BDS. She committed suicide around 9pm after her roommate went out. According to police, Anshika committed suicide due to depression after she had failed in two subjects. A case has been registered in APMC police station. Shivnath, who arrived here in the afternoon, said Anshika was good in her studies. She had scored 69% in her PUC examination. "She called me around 8pm and informed me about the results. She was very depressed. So I suggested her to apply for revaluation. In spite of all this, she committed suicide," he added.
