Young Indian doctor named director of 'Pre-doctoral Prosthodontics and Biomaterials' at Marquette School of Dentistry

MILWAUKEE: Twenty-nine year old Doctor Harshit A Aggarwal (BDS, MSD, FACP) has been named Director of the Department of Pre-doctoral Prosthodontics and Biomaterials atMarquette University School of Dentistry from academic year 2011-12 onwards.

The youngest Indian Prosthodontist certified by the apex American Board of Prosthodontics, Dr. Aggarwal joined the university as Assistant Clinical Professor in December 2009. Dean William Lobb says, "Dr. Aggarwal has consistently demonstrated necessary leadership and organizational skills, and commitment to serve as Director effectively."

Dr. Aggarwal, whose subjects of research interest include Maxillofacial Prosthodontics, Implants and Occlusion, conducts Continuing Education courses for seasoned practitioners and specialists at the university. One of his researches on Mandibular Flexion won him accolades at the 83rd annual meeting of the American Prosthodontic Society in Chicago.

He is currently co-writing a book 'Alternative Dental Implant Systems' sanctioned by The International Congress of Oral Implantologists and re-writing Winkler's 'Essentials of Complete Denture Prosthodontics'. Among the various titles he holds at prestigious organisations are committee member of the American Prosthodontic Society and associate fellow of the American Association of Maxilofacial Prosthodontics.

While in India, Dr. Aggarwal co-founded a Research and Development Firm, Kreations Novateur whereby he developed a unique articulator simulating true-to-life mandibular jaw movements and flexion, an invention for which patents are pending. His rare collection of old dental articulators, today, holds immense historical importance.

Dr. Aggarwal received a BDS from Nair Hospital Dental College in year 2004, a MSD and a preceptorship in Maxillofacial Prosthodontics from New Jersey Dental School in 2009 and FACP in 2011.
